George Washington was
a very important man to our country. First of all, he created an army, held it together, and kept it in a manuverable position.
George took his oath of presidency April 30, 1789 and retired March 3, 1797. He only served two terms, for he felt that no
man should serve more than two terms as president and this is still abided by today. During his presidency he did acomplish
quite a bit. First off, he guided our country from the constitution to the federal-republic we are today. Also, he was a member
in both continental congress' and helped establish the Bill of Rights. For a third of Washington's life he was the foremost
man in the United States ad is still known as the, "Father of our country."
George's Childhood
George was born on February 22, 1732 in Westmoreland, Virginia on Pope's Creek
Plantation around 10 a.m.. His father was an tabacco planter named Augustine Washignton and his mother was Mary Ball. He had six
to seven siblings and his eldest brother, Lawernce, was like his second father after his father died when George was 7. Even
though George was 6 ft tall, which was very unusual, and had wooden teeth, he had many boyhood romances and wrote love poems.
He loved horses and was mostly sober, quiet, attentive, and dignified.

Washington's Education and Early Career
George Washington started school at around 7 or 8 years old and stopped at
14 or 15. He never went to college or formal school. He went to a schoolhouse in Fredricksberg, Virginia and there were no
records found on any of his teachers. George mostly copied passages from books in order to learn. He was a great mathmatition
and his favorite subject was arithmetic. At sixteen he got his first job as a surveyor for Lord Fairfax. Over all he was a
planter, surveyor and soldier before his presidency.
After retireing and moving back to his home at Mt. Vernon, Wsahignton died
two years later. He retired at 64 years old. Every year his Farwell adress is read on his birthday. George really cared about
his country,"observe good fsith and justice toward all nations" while avoidng,"passionate attachment" and,"permanent alliences."
waws what he said to our country. I think he was an extremly important man in the making of our country and life was better
in the United States after he was president.
